The 3 Best Hostels in Bilbao
Let’s jump right into the boutique hostels in Bilbao.
We put all three accommodation on the map, you will find the map at the end of the article.
1. Poshtel Bilbao – Premium Hostel
So you’re looking for the fun of a hostel and comfort of a hotel. Welcome to Poshtel Bilbao – Premium Hostel!
It’s easily the best place to stay in Bilbao Spain.
This posh hostel does not skimp on cool design, lively agenda, red carpet service and an awesome Wifi connection – it offers it all.
Let us show you what there is to get excited for:
- Hostel bar & restaurant
- Common room
- Excellent kitchen
- Bike hire
- Laundry facilities
Make sure you indulge in their pintxo; they are soooo tasty.
And quite honestly, we’re a bit excited by the rooms. They certainly have the posh-factor and are clean, clean, clean.
Firstly, every single option – shared or private – comes with a private bathroom.
Each room is keycard accessible and there is cooling air conditioning to help you out with that hot Basque summer sun.
From deluxe bunks in the mixed dorms, to strictly ladies-only in the 12-bed room. There’s also a family room for 4, and double and triple options.
Everyone is happy.
Hint: Opt for a larger 14 or 18-bed dorm if you’re keen on meeting other travellers.
Luckily for you the reception is open 24 hours a day. Everyone comments on just how lovely and helpful the staff are.
Make sure you ask about any fun activities happening in the hostel during your stay.

However! Each bed does come with an individual light, socket and locker (with lock).
We’d also like to note that the rooms are spacious, ideal for big backpacks and stretching out.
The bunks are also super sturdy and come with linen and a towel. Suddenly it doesn’t seem so bad, right?
A modern communal area can be found near reception at the front of the building.
It’s set away from rooms to help keep the peace and quiet.
There’s lovely seating, ideal workspaces and a TV to keep you occupied.
In the kitchenette is where you’ll find the complimentary, self-service continental breakfast.

Of course, there are always cheap hostels. Forget Bilbao hotels!
We think, it’s not worth it to go with the cheapest hostel out there.
The difference is usually 1-2€ ($1-2) per night, and a lot of amenities are not included. This can be breakfast or linen.
However, if you are traveling on a shoe-string budget and you wanna save every penny, there are ways to find the cheapest places in Bilbao.

This is quite simple, so we’ll keep it as such.

Otherwise, solo travellers should head to Quartier Bilbao Hostel. It’s set in a quiet area and comes with a huge range of rooms to match your social energy level.
Party Hostels in Bilbao
It’s wrong to describe Bilbao as a party destination. Yet that doesn’t mean there aren’t good times to be had here!
We vote Poshtel Bilbao – Premium Hostel as the best party hostel in Bilbao.
But hang on: it’s not technically a party hostel. That’s important!
Instead, it offers an on-site bar and close proximity to great nightlife in the city.
So, enjoy a few drinks at the hostel with new friends, and head to town once it closes.
Best Hostels for Older Travellers and Adults
We couldn’t resist adding in this section for the older travellers out there.
This collection of hostels offer a more relaxed, quiet atmosphere with wonderful private rooms and a tendency to attract adults that are ‘over’ the party scene.

Their industrial-style kitchen is top notch, and we love the super fast Wifi that follows you around the building.
Rooms come with 4, 6, 8 and 10-beds with a female only option thrown in.
Ganbara Hostel Bilbao
Ganbara Hostel is suited more for younger adults that like to socialise but not necessarily party.
There’s no pressure to meet new people, yet the spaces are designed to help break the ice.
Look forward to:
- Free breakfast & tea/coffee
- Bike rental
- Communal kitchen
