The 3 Best Hostels in Arequipa
Let’s jump right into our top Arequipa hostel recommendations.
We put all three accommodation on the map, you will find the map at the end of the article.
1. Way Kap Hostel
Line up, line up! Way Kap Hostel is a fabulous contender and our absolute #1 hostel recommendation in Arequipa.
The design is fresh, the cocktails cold and the vibes are cool.
We doubt you expected such conscious hostelling in South America. Prepare to be WOWed!
So, what is there to get so excited about?
- Hostel bar
- Open courtyard
- Glass-roofed chill space
- Common kitchen
- Simple free breakfast
In the lobby you’ll spot a playstation and Netflix, and at the front desk there are bikes for rent.
If you’re a little shy, we suggest joining their arranged movie nights.
Sweet treats such as hot chocolate and cookies are thrown in for everyone!
Digital nomads can make use of the many bright, open spaces to get some work done.
And we can’t hold it in any longer… the rooms are AWESOME.
Almost pod-like, each bed comes with a personal storage space, light, plug and handy little shelf.
There are no privacy curtains, but we’re not sure it’s necessary in smaller dorms.
Choose from 4 and 8-bed mixed dorms, with an extra female-only option.
Sorry: there are not private rooms available at Way Kap Hostel.
A few other great bits include a 24-hour reception and no set curfew.
Location: Located in the historic area of Arequipa, just steps from the Main Square and San Catalina Monastery.
This is one of the best hostels in Arequipa for
- Female solo travellers
- Older travellers
2. Arequipay Backpackers Downtown
At Arequipay Backpackers Downtown, it’s less about the intense party vibe and more about a cozy, homey social atmosphere.

3. Limbo Jump Hostel
Ladies and gentlemen, our third hostel in this guide offers an environment made up of recycled materials and that cozy touch only made possible by a passionate family.
The lovely Leo, Sabrina and Mino want to welcome you to Limbo Jump Hostel!
“Our commitment to guests is to welcome them with tranquility and comfort for a good rest.”
This beautiful Italian-Peruvian family has created something really special.
You know it’s going to be great when there is…
- An in-house masseuse
- Spanish classes available
- Cooking classes @ the hostel
- Free breakfast
For those of you looking to visit volcanoes, canyons and try whitewater rafting; speak with the family for bookings.
If you’re having a lazy day, there’s plenty to keep you occupied.
Why not relax in the TV room or play a game over a cup of coca tea.
Yet our #1 idea for the day is to indulge in the scrumptious Italian food cooked up by Mino.
Once you’ve eaten your way through the menu, consider learning how to prepare the dishes yourself by joining a cooking class.
The rooms are kept small, with 4 or 6-bed options. Sturdy wooden beds and big lockers await you.
To top it off: Wifi is free, reception is open 24/7 and there is secure parking available.
Location: It’s just a 15-minute walk to the main area including Plaza de Armas and Parque Selva Alegre.
