The oasis of Huacachina is one of Peru‘s most popular sites, which is hardly unexpected! This charming settlement in Ica, hidden among the dunes, is home to a stunning pool right in the center of the desert.
This unique natural landscape permits a wide range of adventurous activities, which is why you’re sure to have a spectacular day if you’re spending it in Ica.
It’s time to start researching the best Huacachina hostel choices. Despite being a small destination, there are some great hostels in Huacachina to choose from.
Average price for a bed: Hostels in Huacachina cost $7 – $12 per night for a bed in a dorm. A private room has an average price of around $46 per night. This is a rough average, just to give you an idea.
Check-In and Check-Out: The average check-in time is from 15:00 (3 pm), while the Check-Out time is before 11:00 (11 am). Hostels usually offer luggage storage in case you arrive earlier or leave later. Make sure you check if luggage storage is free or if there is an extra cost.
Nightlife: Although small, Huacachina is very much mighty when it comes to its nightlife. This is due in part to the tourists who stay here, as well as the large party hostels that cater to them and host massive parties every night.
Happy hour begins at 9 p.m., and the crowds and music only get bigger from there.
Popular Activity: The dune buggy tour is undoubtedly the most popular activity in Huacachina. If you only have one day here, plan it around a dune buggy tour. These thrilling tours offer breathtaking views of the surrounding sand dunes.
You can also try your hand at sandboarding! Sandboarding is similar to snowboarding, except it is done in the sand! In Huacachina, you can ride a dune buggy up to the top of some very steep dunes before sandboarding down.
Paddleboat in the Oasis: While swimming in it isn’t particularly appealing, it’s fun to paddleboat in it! The Oasis is surrounded by palm trees, bars, and a boardwalk, making it a fun place to explore!
Banana's Adventure Hostel is a safe, clean, calm, and exceptionally lovely family-run property in Huacachina, Peru, ideally located above the Huacachina lagoon.
It is by far the greatest location for those looking for fun, relaxation, easy access to Sandboarding activities, and the friendliest outdoor environment, with plenty of space for sunbathing by the pool.
This hostel is an excellent option for single travelers, groups of friends, couples, and families. It consists of two rooftop patios, plants, a swimming pool encircled by banana trees, a central tiki bar, flowers, and plenty of hammocks.
We think the food option there is also great, as carnivores will have plenty of meat to munch on, while vegans will get to choose from a variety of different dishes throughout their stay.
Your stay at this hostel includes free breakfast and one activity per day. You can pick from Sandboarding, riding dune buggies, taking a wine tour in Ica, or dining at the evening BBQ.
We recommend completing at least two of these activities as prices are cheap, especially given the location.
As for the rooms, they’re great, with privacy curtains on each bed and USB ports that eliminate the need for adaptors. They also all lead to the lovely main hall that will directly transport you from dorm beds into the tropical beauty of Huacachina.
The staff here is both kind and professional and amusing, and you’ll find plenty of fellow travelers to befriend.
If you’re traveling with your significant other, the prospect of staying in a dorm may be challenging. Thankfully, The Upcycled Hostel Huacachina is the trendiest hostel in Huacachina and offers double-bed private rooms with shared bathroom options.
This means that you and your significant other will get the privacy and space you need without sacrificing hostel life’s perks, from socializing to your wallet thanking you profusely.
The Upcycled Hostel offers some of the greatest cocktails in town that can be enjoyed with amazing music and food – we recommend trying out the wings – thank us later.
The facilities are made out of a pool, a common outdoor area, and cozy lounge spaces where you’ll get to immerse yourself in the distinct beauty of your surroundings.
While Huacachina is a one-of-a-kind destination trip, we think this hostel will enhance it.
Keep in mind that if you’re a light sleeper, you might want to opt to go somewhere else, as there is loud music playing at the bar till 11 p.m. every night (which can be overheard from the rooms).
Also, this hostel isn’t centrally located, so it will take you about 4 minutes to reach the oasis.
This is because they offer a very safe and clean environment, overlooked by an accommodating staff that will make sure to help you out if you face any issues throughout your trip or if you need help with planning an itinerary.
The hostel is very activity-oriented, which provides plenty of opportunities to meet fellow travelers and socialize, but it’s big enough for you to find private and quiet spaces if that’s what you’re looking for.
Of course, there are always cheap hostels. But how do you actually find them? When you are traveling on a shoe-string budget and you want to save every dollar, there are ways to find the cheapest places in Huacachina.
