5 COOLEST Party Hostels in Munich

Munich has been ranked as one of the most liveable cities in the world and is a major hub for the arts, sciences, technology, finance, publishing, culture, innovation, education, business, and tourism. It also has a very high standard of living; In terms of home prices and rent, Munich is routinely rated as one of the most expensive cities in Germany. However, don’t let this frighten you.

There are a lot of budget-friendly options in the city, as you can see from our list of party hostels in Munich. As of 2015, Munich is regarded as an alpha world city by the Globalization and World Rankings Research Institute, making it one of Germany’s most rich and rapidly expanding cities. More than 530,000 residents of the city have a foreign ancestry, constituting 37.7% of the total population.

All of the major cities in Germany and Austria can be reached by rail, and Munich serves as a significant hub for the European and German high-speed passenger rail networks. Stushowmapttgart, Nuremberg (Nürnberg in German), and Salzburg are served by autobahns (expressways) that merge into the city.

The old town, centred on the historic marketplace at Marienplatz, has lost its historic character and rapidly become a business district. Three of the seven town gates, Karls, Sendlinger, and Isar, all from the fourteenth century, are among the historical structures still standing.

Munich is known for having a thriving nightlife scene. The Bavarian city features an abundance of night locales, from traditional beer gardens to sophisticated clubs and bars. Suppose you’re looking for a classic Munich experience. In that case, you can visit one of the city’s famous beer gardens, such as the Augustinier Keller or the Hacker-Pschorr, where you can enjoy delicious German food paired with the world’s finest beer.

Backpacking tips for Munich

Firstly, Munich is a very safe city. Numbeo’s Crime Index ranked it the eighth-safest city in the world last year. It received an overall safety index of 82.59, only 6 points behind the city with the highest score, Abu Dhabi. With that said, female solo travellers should have no worries!

Munich is known for being very welcoming to tourists. There are loads of fun things to do, fantastic bars, and kind and inviting people. Excellent public transportation is available, which is always helpful when exploring a new city. Additionally, the level of customer service in bars and restaurants was far superior to that in other European towns.

The primary market in Munich is located in the city’s heart, at Viktualienmarkt. You can buy just about every type of food here, from fresh fruit and vegetables to the iconic German fast food, Currywurst, making it the ideal place to start your weekend. If you’ve never had it, it consists of fried sausage slices that have been spiced up. Without trying it, a vacation to Munich would be incomplete.

After sating your appetite with beer and bratwurst, St. Peter’s Church is only a short stroll away. Although it is gorgeous inside, the tower is what draws most people to this city’s oldest Catholic Church. It dates back to the 12th century. A word of caution, though: There are 14 stories, and the stairwell is tiny, so be very careful if you feel wobbly. However, the views from the top make the journey worthwhile; they provide a 360-degree panorama of Munich, including the well-known Marienplatz (the central square).

Furthermore, the warmest months with the highest sunshine hours are June, July, and August. However, the weather is perfect for city sightseeing and day trips outside the city during the spring and fall. From December through February, when temperatures might drop below zero, you should wear warm clothing. There are about 8 to 11 rainy days per year, distributed fairly evenly throughout the year. However, summer months see more precipitation than other months do.

Things to Bring & Pack

There are a few things backpackers should be sure to bring when staying at a party hostel specifically. These items include earplugs (for early mornings and loud roomates), a padlock (lock up your valuables BEFORE going out), headache medicine (always usefful!), and condoms.

Especially for the bigger European cities where pickpocketing is common we recommend wearing trousers with zippers. This limits the chances of stealing from your pockets.

Be Sociable

One of the best things about a hostel is being able to meet new people from every corner of the world. Be sure to talk to people and mingle. Travelling solo is great and life-changing, yet enjoying it with new friends can be even better. Locals especially, can show you hidden secret and some of the best spots in the city.
