The 3 Best Hostels in Miami
Let’s jump right into the boutique hostels in Miami.
We put all three accommodation on the map, you will find the map at the end of the article.
1. Generator Hostel Miami
Let’s jump right in and encourage you to discover the Magic City with an experience-led stay at Generator Miami.
You will literally be sleeping 100 feet from the beach. Oh yeah.
This hostel chain decided to open its doors first and foremost in Miami. We couldn’t agree on a better destination.
Like all of their hostels, at Generator Miami you can expect to enjoy:
- On-site bar and cafe
- Female only dorms
- Free Wi-fi
- Bike hire
- Outdoor swimming pool
And with the swimming pool comes an inclusive beach towel and sun lounger. With a pool bar right by the water, we’re not sure you’ll go anywhere else.
This is an 8-level property, so it’s not exactly cute and cosy. But that’s not the point.
The atmosphere here is all about the buzz, bringing travellers together to create new friendships and lasting memories.
When the hostel is at capacity, you’ll have over 300 people to mingle with!
Good to know: the 14% tax is not included in the room rate.
At both of the on-site restaurant-bars you can keep the fun times flowing until 2am each morning!
This is what makes the range of rooms so good – all travellers types are welcome and made to feel at home.
6-bed dorms offer more of a social vibe, whereas 4-bed dorms are quieter. Yet every bed offers a privacy shield, so it doesn’t really matter which you choose. There is also a selection of private rooms.
Location: In the heart of the South Beach District, just steps away from the iconic Miami Beach front. Surrounded by city skyscrapers and the Miami vibe, you’re never far from everything you could possibly need.
This is one of the best hostels in Miami for
- Solo travellers
2. Freehand Miami
Are you a free spirit in search of a free-spirited community just steps from the beach?
Welcome to Freehand Miami, in that case.
“Freehand Miami is a modern hostel with awesome extras – come take a dip in our outdoor pool, or sip on a cold drink from our cocktail bar.”
The overall design is pretty neat. It includes bespoke art by Miami-based creatives, adding a cutting edge vibe that’s set to impress.
Whether you stay in a mixed or female dorm, or splash out on a king suite, you’ll be treated to towels, bedding and a big locker for all your things.
Every room comes with an en-suite, too. So just roll out of bed and straight into the shower!
Now that you have your room sorted, what’s next?
Ah yes, the awesome amenities…
- Courtyard trees w/ fairy lights
- Restaurant serving garden veggies
- Outdoor pool w/ sun loungers
- Curated activities and events
- Cocktail bar
If that wasn’t enough; breakfast is free, pets are welcome and there’s FREE iced coffee in the lobby each day.
Reception is also open 24/7, and the staff can point you in the direction of bicycles that you’re welcome to use.
What does this hostel not have?!
Super cool: book three nights and get the fourth night for free.
One last thing. There is a sunrise yoga class that can’t be missed before jumping in the pool.
Location: It’s around a 30-45 minute ride from Miami International Airport and a 5-minute stroll from the beach. There is a weekly shuttle to Little Havana from the hostel.

Your stay is made extra special with the added bonus of organised wine tastings, boat trips and nights out – sign up to your preferred activity with friendly staff.
Important: there are no private rooms here, only shared dorms.
Spread over 6, 8 and 10-bed dorm options, there is also a female only option in each size.
So much effort has gone in to making these rooms super comfy.
Get ready for an en-suite, air conditioning, a small kitchenette (with sink) and a personal bed light and plug. Sorted.
There is also a handy communal kitchen on site if you fancy cooking.
Location: In the heart of the world famous Art Deco district, surrounded by 20th-century gems. Gianni Versace’s mansion is a 5-minute stroll, and epic salsa dance halls and rooftop bars surround you. Ask the hostel in advance about a pick up from the airport.

Of course, there are always cheap hostels.
We think, it’s not worth it to go with the cheapest hostel out there.
The difference is usually 1-2€ ($1-2) per night, and a lot of amenities are not included. This can be breakfast or linen.
However, if you are traveling on a shoe-string budget and you wanna save every penny, there are ways to find the cheapest places in Miami.
