Check-In and Check-Out: The average check-in time is from 15:00 (3 pm), while the Check-Out time is before 11:00 (11 am). Hostels usually offer luggage storage in case you arrive earlier or leave later. Make sure you check if luggage storage is free or if there is an extra cost.
Hostel Type: You will find a wide range from super cheap places, backpacker hostels to surf and party hostels. The chill and calm overall hostel feel are all over Canggu. The Boutique Hostels are our personal favorites: Fun and awesome looking!
Ubud vs Canggu: Canggu is located at the beach and more party-oriented. Ubud is surrounded by the jungle with stunning rice fields and temples. Being the cultural center of Bali, Ubud has a more relaxed vibe to kickback.
There is good reason this is a 5 star hostel, after all. Not only does it offer the above mentioned. It also organises daily activities and weekly excursions.
What better way to break the ice and share experiences?
Start the day with morning yoga, and finish it with a drink at Happy Hour. Especially the yoga classes are very popular. Make sure you join them, it is a good opportunity to meet fellow hostel friends.
Female solo travellers can enjoy the single-sex dorm. Other solo travelers also have a 4-bed cosy option. With tons of space to chill, it’s easy to enjoy your own company amongst others if you wish.
We give Kosone hostel canggu a solid 10 out of 10 for a solo traveller experience.
Are you in search of a great party hostel in Canggu that combines surf and relaxation? Actually, do not worry at all. Canggu is a big party destination. You can even stay in one of the boutique hostels around, and join the party at the beach bars.
Many travelers do this actually: Sleep in a quiet hostel, party outside, crawl back home.
Anyways, so you want to stay at a Canggu party hostel? Okay, okay, you got it!
In the heart of the small village, this hostel can’t resist throwing a party EVERY night around its four (yes, four!) outdoor pools!
The bar happens to be open all day, so poolside lazing with a beer in hand is encouraged.
There is a mix of 16 female-only and mixed dorms, plus two private villas for swanky couples. Enjoy an en-suite, air-con and under bed storage.
Thanks to the close proximity to nearby bars and nightlife, the party never stops. After starting the night by the pool, continue the fun at a local bar and meet even more travelers.
Choose one of the deluxe rooms to collapse into. Spend the day recovering cuddled up on a beanbag in the sun. Sorted.
Important: Do not drive a scooter when you had a few drinks! It is very very risky. We are not your parents, but after spending one day in Bali, you will hear already stories of people having drunk accidents. The house mate of our friend lost a finger in such an accident. Do not risk it, taxis are cheap anyways!
Enjoy exploring the beach by day and rest well in the comfy beds at night complete with curtains, reading light, and power sockets.
It gives off that village fell with a huge quiet backyard, a mango tree, and a hammock for that perfect afternoon siesta. You can even make your tea while you’re at it.
It’s also the perfect place to stay if you want to go and surf. They have excellent guides here to teach you the basics fo surfing. Just schedule it with their instructors. It’s very efficient since they take care of all the rentals, transportation, and others.
Perhaps one of the best things about Surfers Hostel is its location to everything. It’s near the beach, it’s near the cafes, it’s even near to the one things you need most – currency exchange store!
That being said, it is always better to get your money exchange directly from the ATM. We do not recommend bringing your own currency and change it in Bali. There is usually a much worse exchange rate.
Castaway Hostel is one of the best Bali hostel there is! It was perfect for me who likes a little bit of fun party but also loves my decent amount of sleep.
The beds are awesome and the tropical heat was bearable because of the working AC! The owner is also very warm and handpicked all the best people to work in the hostel which meant more than satisfying service.
The hostel’s layout is very nice and the beds are extremely comfortable, you can just melt into it.
If you want to hangout by the pool, you can! Castaway Hostel feels more like a villa where you get to know everyone and be friends with them.
You can also stroll the beach, explore the main street, and just get lost in Canggu!
By the time you get back to your hostel, you are welcomed with a small party that’s absolutely perfect for socializing.

Flights to Canggu?
We enjoy Omio.com and Kiwi.com to find cheap flights. The airport in Bali is in Denpasar, called International Airport Ngurah Rai. We flew into Bali for a small price from Kuala Lumpur.
Arriving at the airport, make sure you check first with your hostel for a taxi ride. There is a lot of overpaying scams going on and UBER and Grab do not work as well in Bali.
Back to the flights, Kiwi, this new website, has super cool features like a so-called radius search. Just draw a circle over Asia and find the cheapest rates for the area.
Would you like a promo code for any of the Canggu, Indonesia hostels mentioned? Of course you do. Since you are a Hostelgeeks reader and part of the community, you can get access to discounts and special promo codes.
