1. Plus Hostel

To kick start we want to introduce a family run hostel that’s oozing with homely, intimate vibes. Seriously, we’ve no doubt you’re going to love Plus Hostel as much as us!

“Plus Hostel Ayutthaya is good for value stay in ancient capital, especially if you like waking up to the bird songs and falling asleep to the still night.”

Though it’s a small accommodation, it doesn’t lack in big energy that’s super inclusive and sociable.

For instance, the hosts cook a family dinner every night which is usually enjoyed out in the yard – how nice is that?

Because of this it’s so easy to meet new people and relax into a comfortable flow. The only thing is that you might find yourself extended your stay once or twice.

Shall we have a look at the other perks of staying here?

  • Quiet working space (including laptops for use)
  • Outdoor patio
  • Indoor living area
  • Free breakfast & dinner
  • Fruits throughout the day

Just in case two free meals a day isn’t enough, there is also a shared kitchen onsite which is lovely and spacious.

Why not rent a bicycle for just 10 baht a day and explore? Everything is within cycling distance, afterall!

As for the bedrooms, you have a choice of staying in mixed or female dorm. Each bunk comes with a privacy curtain, locker, bed lamp and 2 fluffy pillows.

Good to know: There are no private rooms here.

Location: Just outside the town center in a quiet area. As mentioned, we recommend renting a bicycle from the hostel to explore the area.

2. Early Bird Hostel

Next up we have found a beautifully aesthetic hostel called Early Bird Hostel.

The overall design is gorgeous and encourages a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.

This is certainly one of the best hostels in Ayutthaya for families.

For sure the best place to hang out here is on the terrace. It’s complete with seating, plants and is covered so can be enjoyed in all weathers. The fairy lights at night time are super cute!

Stuff available for a small charge:

  • Bicycles for rent
  • Refreshing drinks
  • Tickets for boats & public transport

The rooms here are really cosy thanks to the warm colours, privacy curtains and lamps on each bunk.

Alongside the 6 and 10-bed mixed dorms, there is also a family room with shared bathroom available. This room can sleep a total of 6 people.

Each morning there is a FREE continental breakfast to start your day right – bonus!

It’s a really clean hostel and many travellers comment on how much it feels like a home-away-from-home.

Location: Right in the heart of City Island and the ideal place for exploring ancient temples such as Wat Maha That and Wat Ratchaburana.

3. 11:11 Hostel

Now, when it comes to our last recommendation it’s all about the friendly staff and excellent location. Let’s have a look at 11:11 Hostel.

This hostel is full to the brim with lush plants everywhere you look – hanging from the ceiling, painted on the wall, in the cafe…

We suggest booking your stay here if you prefer doing your own thing for the most part and enjoy spending your days out exploring.

That’s because there are no organised activities and the hostel is located in such a cool place that it would be daft to spend all your time inside.

Tip: Rent a bike from reception and explore that way!

Having said that, during the afternoon/evening the rooftop is a really cool place to hang out!

Downstairs there is also a cafe which serves excellent coffee and homemade bakery goods – yum.

The decor is rather outdated but it offers its own charm. There is seating by the window overlooking the street which we think is the ideal place to get some work done.

Bonus: There is air conditioning as this hostel.

Out of all the hostels in this guide, 11:11 definitely have the best dorm rooms. The beds are sturdy and have little screens to separate each one, plus a privacy curtain.

The only dorm available has 10-beds and is mixed. There are private rooms avaible, too.

Each room comes with a patio with city views and access to free Wifi throughout.

This is one of the best hostels in Ayutthaya for couples.

Location: Inside the Old City town, within easy walking distance from the main Ayutthaya railway station. It’s very easy to access the main temples from here.

What about cheapest hostels in Ayutthaya?

Of course, there are always cheap hostels. Forget hotels!

We think, it’s not worth it to go with the cheapest hostel out there.

Why?

The difference is usually 1-2€ ($1-2) per night, and a lot of amenities are not included. This can be breakfast or linen.

However, if you are traveling on a shoe-string budget and you wanna save every penny, there are ways to find the cheapest places in Ayutthaya.

  1. Open Hostelworld with full list of budget places to stay in Ayutthaya
  2. Order the listing by price

Simple as that.

Some of you were asking about Stockhome Hostel Ayutthaya but we do not recommend this as it has very low ratings.

Best Hostels in Ayutthaya for Solo Travellers?

What is seriously the best hostel in Ayutthaya for solo-travellers?

Well, it’s usually easy to recommend a hostel for solo travellers because of organised activities, events and buzzing communal spaces.

In Ayutthaya things are a little different. Hostels here don’t have a large focus on the social aspect, though they do still provide cosy social areas.

So, we would say Plus Hostel is the best option.

Why? They offer a free breakfast and dinner everyday as a means of bringing people together, and it works wonderfully!

The indoor shared lounge and garden are excellent places to relax either with yourself or new friends. Plus gives you the chance to either be sociable or enjoy your own company.
