Let us see why Yim Huai Khwang is an outstanding hostel.

1. Avoiding Plastic and use of Local Products

With a sustainable attitude right from the beginning, the team kept as much from the previous tenants as possible and then added local materials such as bamboo or vintage tiles.

Today, the family-run hostel provides glass bottles to refill with water and try to go without plastic in general.

For your breakfast, they will only serve products bought from local shops right in Huai Khwang.

Located right next to the MRT, you can easily go without taxis and simply jump on a train during your stay.

It is the perfect spot to start exploring Bangkok.

They also encourage cycling by offering ramp and a room to store your bike in.

Just ask the friendly staff where to get your bike – they will send you over to their local partner!

Together with locals artists they also organize different exhibitions in the lobby.

2. Designed to smile: YIM!

While from the outside the building looks very stylish and plain, the inside is fun and friendly.

Every floor is painted in a different colour and they are all coming together in the lobby.

There is a massive clock decorated with toys in all colours and a wall papered with pages from fashion and design magazines, creating a rainbow colour scheme for the room.

Combined with modern design furniture and their black and white logo, this space still feels surprisingly calm and relaxing.

The open plan common areas provide a welcoming atmosphere, inviting everyone to join at the massive breakfast table or the smaller lounge area on the first floor.

The rooms are kept in more neutral colors to make sure the guests will have a good night’s sleep.

The beds for the dorms are especially designed in a pod-style, each creating a small room itself.

As a group, you can book a full dorm and make it private.

This gives you and your buddies more privacy, and still you can enjoy the fun hostel lifestyle.

3. Feeling Home and Welcome – A unique team

Although you might expect to mention here the design and style, the uniqueness comes from something different.

The team here at Yim Huai Khwang Hostel is absolutely welcoming from the very first second!

The owner’s nephews are playing in the lobby, the cook will know how you like your eggs for breakfast after the first day and there are always nice people hanging out in the café.

The hostel is run by the owner’s family and by locals, who became part of the family as well.

Everyone is treated the same and you can feel their team spirit right away.

Once you set foot in the lobby, they will welcome you like a friend and it’s gonna be hard to leave after that!

This feeling is truly unique and you will appreciate it right away!

4. Family vibes – local vibes

Apart from the lovely team, you will meet new friends at Yim Huai Khwang Hostel every day.

The common areas are welcoming and visited by locals as well as by travelers. This combination can be real fun, and shows the local character.

There is the lobby to have coffee in, the breakfast area, a lounge with a balcony and a small garden to relax in with your new friends.

While there is no real kitchen, there is still a shared fridge and microwave in the common area and to be honest: you will be eating at one of the surrounding markets anyways.
