Weary from a day of walking across Tokyo, we went to the first restaurant we could find.
The owner did not speak any English and unlike in the tourist restaurants across Tokyo, there were no photos on the menu.
Feeling bold, we asked for a selection of dishes. We are not fussy eaters however when we looked at the plate of mini crabs on cocktail sticks and chunks of chicken that had been seared, but were raw in the middle.
We realized that this was not a sensible attitude to adopt in Japan. We also realized that we would be going home hungry that night.
