Are hostels safe in Thailand?

Yes, generally speaking hostels in Thailand are safe. Remember to always lock your belongings and bring your padlock.

Read a guide: How safe are hostels?

Is Thailand dangerous to travel?

Thailand is a very safe country to travel. We had zero issues. Even for female solo-travellers, Thailand is super safe. Of course there are the typical tourist scams and pick-pockets, especially in Bangkok and bigger, more busy places.

Is food expensive in Thailand?

Food is very cheap! A coconut is around $1 and a Pad Thai as well. Remember, the more touristy places are more pricey than rural areas. This goes for anywhere in the world really.

Western Products like Pizza and Coffee is around the same price as in Europe. So you can spoil yourself once i a while. But it’s better to go with the local food to stay on a budget. Plus, the food here is amazing anyways!

The North around CHiang Mai is also cheaper than the South around the Islands. Especially Koh Lipe is expensive, but still very cheap compared to European Islands.

How much money do you need per day in Thailand?

When Backpacking Thailand, you should have a great time with around $30-$40 – easily.

This means staying in fun hostels, having a few drinks over the week and go with the local cuisine. Of course if you join a tour everyday and eat pizza everyday, your budget should be adapted.

What should I pack for 2 weeks in Thailand?

Chances are you are packing way too much stuff anyways. Make sure you pack light. You need much less than you think.

Here is our packing list for staying in hostels.
