Things to Bring & Pack

There are a few things backpackers should be sure to bring when staying at a party hostel specifically. These items include earplugs (for early mornings and loud roomates), a padlock (lock up your valuables BEFORE going out), headache medicine (always usefful!), and condoms.

Especially for the bigger European cities where pickpocketing is common we recommend wearing trousers with zippers. This limits the chances of stealing from your pockets.

Be Sociable

One of the best things about a hostel is being able to meet new people from every corner of the world. Be sure to talk to people and mingle. Travelling solo is great and life-changing, yet enjoying it with new friends can be even better. Locals especially, can show you hidden secret and some of the best spots in the city.

Our Insider Tips

As mentioned in the beginning, this guide is an extension of our article “best hostels in Thailand”.

Yet, we have written down more of our backpacking tips for Thailand. We must provide you with a handful of useful backpacking tips that will allow you to travel easily and have a more convenient stay.

  • Pick the season

Summer is the peak season almost everywhere in Europe, so you might want to consider travelling during spring and early autumn. During the summer months, the prices are also considerably higher – from food and accommodation to the tickets to visit the most notable attractions.

The best time to plan your trip to Europe is during the off-season. This is when the number of tourists is lesser, and you’ll be able to explore and enjoy your destinations without having to be stuck in the crowds or spending a large sum. And even if you wish to get the full experience by visiting the most popular destinations in the summer, book your stay in some of the best party hostels in Europe for the ultimate experience.

  • Plan around important events

Europe is known for offering quite a lively party atmosphere, so you might consider visiting around the time when the most popular festivals are held. However, make sure to do your research and start planning well in advance.

  • Find the freebies

Setting off on a backpacker’s journey doesn’t mean that you should miss out on having a good time. Many Europe destinations offer exploratory and fun activities that are light on the pocket- and you should get full advantage of them. For example, you should look out for free city tours, museum tickets, or tasting traditions, and get the full destination experience while being in saving mode.

  • Eat locally

A big part of your European journey is indulging your senses in some plethora of traditional specialities that make each region popular. And instead of heading out to a fancy restaurant, you can enjoy the local delicacies on the open. Many street food options offer just as a tasty experience as dining in an exclusive restaurant, which will save you a lot of money, and provide an irreplaceable experience to interact with the locals.

  • Have fun

Last, but not least, ensure you have a lot of fun. After all, this is the main reason you’ve set out o your backpacking journey, right? Awaken your adventurous side and get the utmost fun out of your trip by staying in some of the best party hostels in Europe!
