If you’re looking for a journey where you can just kick back and spend your days relaxing on the beach, we can assure you that you will be in the right place. Picturesque beaches are abundant; some of the best ones are Voutoumi Beach, Porto Timoni, and Paralia Vrika.

You will be surrounded by their breathtaking views of lush nature, majestic cliffsides and turquoise waters. On the other hand, if you are feeling more adventurous, hop on one of the boat tours. Visit Paxos and Anti Paxos, and the Blue Caves for snorkelling and swimming in the hardest-to-reach island locations. The boat tours are a full-day trip, about 12 hours long, but well worth the price and scenery. We promise you won’t regret it!

Alternatively, if you prefer to explore the island on land, you must visit Corfus Old town in Kerkira. Allow yourself to get lost in the labyrinth of stone-paved streets, quaint little shops, and tavernas that charm you with their atmosphere.

The town has three forts, designed by Venetian engineers and used for many centuries by the Republic of Venice against the Ottoman Empire. Dating back to the 8th century BC, it has rich history and culture waiting to be explored. Be sure to check out the walking tours offered around the town.

How about a visit to Santori? We got you! Check our guide to the best hostels in Santorini and the best hostels in Mykonos.

This guide is perfect for YOU, when you…

  • are tired of crappy hostels!
  • want a social Hostel to actually meet people
  • are happy to spend $1 to $2 more for a much better experience

Additionally, you can visit the Nymfes village, where according to legends, nymphes used to bathe under the high 200-meter waterfalls. Close to the waterfalls, you’ll find remains of the small ancient monastery Askitario, where a monk named Artemios Paissios lived in the 5th century.

Another way to experience the island is through the 150 km Corfu hiking trail. Weaving through the mountains, lagoons, small towns, and lakes, offers a unique way to experience the island’s beauty. The hike is divided into ten stages, so you can choose which part you want to explore.

Ultimately, a large part of the Greek culture is shown through their cuisine. A visit to the local tavernas is the best way to enjoy traditional meals and desserts. You can try a variety of traditional dishes, such as Moussaka, Mussels Saganaki, or different types of Stifados. Pair them with a glass of greek wine or have an Ouzo as an aperitif.

If you are on a tighter budget, for only a couple of euros, you can get a good-sized gyro that will keep you full for hours. As for desserts, you can’t miss the many flavours of the greek baklava, loukoumades (honey puffs), or Galaktoboureko (greek custard pie with syrup).

The inviting reception can provide various activities for you, like kayaking, quad bike tours, cliff diving, watersports and more!

The rooms overlooking the azure sea are equipped with private bathrooms with showers, towels, and security lockers. You can enjoy a breakfast buffet with a view, or dinner at sunset in their restaurant. You can socialise and meet other guests in their beach bar or by the pool in the yard.

3. Corfu Backpackers Beach Hostel

Corfu Backpackers Beach Hostel is another family-run business and the same family manages it as the Pink Palace hostel. They offer private rooms, great for couples, triple, quad, and mixed dorms. Most rooms come with stunning sea views and private bathrooms, which is always a big plus.

The hostel organises all kinds of activities and tours, to Kerkyra and the hidden gems of the island, day trips to neighbouring Albania, and more. They have a luggage room free of charge to store your belongings in a safe place.

Also, you can use their laundry service at a charge. At the beach and beach bar, they offer free sunbeds and umbrellas. Additionally, you can also use their transfer services to and from the airport or port of Corfu. However, bear in mind that you’ll need to provide them with details on your transport so it can be arranged properly.

On the other hand, if you’re travelling in off-peak season, the island will be very quiet and there won’t be many tourists visiting. With that said, since the same family runs both hostels, due to lower operational costs, you might be accommodated in the Pink Palace, of course, all the terms of the booking will still apply.

Regardless, you will be well taken care of and will have an unforgettable holiday.

Location: In contrast to the former, this hostel is located closer to Agios Gordios and 400 meters from the beach on the west coast of Corfu.

Backpacking Tips for Corfu

Before we list our choices of the best hostels in Corfu, we would like to give you some backpacking tips to help you on your trip.

1. Be mindful of clean sea water. Clean sea water is usually the home of sea urchins, so protect your feet from painful stings and hot beach pebbles by having a pair of swimming shoes.

2. Taxis are expensive. Only take them if you really don’t have any other option. Another option would be public transport; however, they’re less frequent, so make sure to know their schedule. If you’re travelling in a group, you should consider renting a car for a couple of days, as it might be the cheapest option.

3. Corfu has an abundance of pristine beaches, most of which are located within quaint villages. Additionally, there are a lot of secluded beaches hidden in the cliffs, but some of them are difficult to reach.

4. If you’re renting an ATV or car, always stick to the main road, even if your maps say otherwise. The island is filled with narrow streets with sharp turns, and potholes are common. Although it may be the shorter option, it’s not the most enjoyable one.

So far, we have talked about the island and its treasures. Now, let us share some of the best hostels in Corfu catered more to backpackers.
