Busan is made out of beautiful beaches whose edges transform into mountain ranges and shelter historic Buddhist temples.

Amidst a stunning coastline and delicious seafood, you’ll also find some of the best hostels in Busan, ready to serve as your home away from home.

Sunsets in Busan are particularly beautiful, so we’ve included a couple of Busan hostels near the beach (some of which are super close to Haeundae beach!).

All of the hostels in Busan we’re recommending are perfect for solo travelers, backpackers, and, quite frankly, travelers of all kinds, whether you visit the city to sample raw fish, hike, or look at the pretty colors of Gamcheon Culture Village.

Our favorite hostels in Busan are:

Quick Introduction to Busan

Average price for a bed: Hostels in Busan cost $14 – $30 per night for a bed in a dorm. A private room has an average price of around $60 per night. This is a rough average, just to give you an idea.

Prices always depend on the season and holidays. Please always check the exact rates on Hostelz.com or Hostelworld.com.

Check-In and Check-Out: The average check-in time is from 15:00 (3 pm), while the Check-Out time is before 11:00 (11 am). Hostels usually offer luggage storage in case you arrive earlier or leave later. Make sure you check if luggage storage is free or if there is an extra cost.

Transportation: The tramway and buses are the main way people get around in Busan. Alternatively, you could also opt for taxis. Walking is enjoyable, but the city is made of sharp inclines, so be warned.

Where to eat: The go-to place to eat would be at the Jagalchi fish market, which has a lot of different stalls where you can pick fresh seafood and ask them to cook it for you.

Another good choice is Gamji bear and Cheonsapor harbor, where you’ll find dining options overlooking the beach. If you’re tired of seafood, you can also try sampling food and desserts at Gugkje market.

Cash vs. card: While South Korea is very much a ‘we love cards’ country, most markets are cash-only, so equip yourself with it adequately.

Getting around: Travelers use offline Google Maps to get around, and this is also what we recommend in most countries, but Korea’s Google Maps is kind of annoying to work with.

This is because of security issues with North Korea that we won’t get into, but basically, you’ll be better off downloading Naver maps or Kakao maps. Both of these will give you the exact location and way to get to your destinations.
